A gritty Aarmaan Ebrahim overcame technical hurdles to complete his race and finish a creditable seventh in the second round of the Formula Asia V6 Championship at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

The 19-year-old Indian driver was leading the race in the fifth lap but the engine of his car suddenly lost power and went into safety mode as the vehicle was running on three cylinders at the Sepang International Circuit.

Armaan pulled into the pits and resumed the race two laps behind the others but the Chennai-born driver raced with grit and determination to cross the chequered flag and earn four points.

"It was not a pleasant situation. I was leading the race quite comfortably and was just beginning to settle into a rhythm when suddenly the engine went dead," Armaan said.

"The car was perfect in the morning warm up session and all of a sudden this happens in the race. But it is what it is and I guess we have to be a lot more guarded before the next race," he added.

However, Aarman said he was satisfied with the performance and was looking forward to the remaining races.

"On the whole, the team did a great job with the car and I think we are really looking strong for the remaining races of the season," he said.

Ebrahim had won the first round to collect 15 points and now the total of 19 points places him at the third place.
