Karan Rastogi quelled the challenge of France's Antoine Tassart to storm into the quarterfinals of the $ 15,000 ITF men's event at Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Thursday.
The fifth seeded Indian pipped his opponent 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-1 in the second round match, which was postponed due to rain.
The 21-year-old Rastogi now has a chance to improve on his last week's performance at the same venue, where he had reached the last eight.
However, he is up against top seed Dutch Matwe Middelkoop, who beat Matthew Smith of Great Britain 6-1, 7-6(5) in his second round match.
