Saina Nehwal cruised into the second round of the women's singles, while compatriot Anup Sridhar was beaten, in the Indonesian Open Super series in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Saina picked up from where she had left in the Singapore Open and thrashed local favourite Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari 21-12, 21-14 in a one-sided match that lasted 25 minutes.
The world number 30 Indian, who had reached the semi-finals of the Singapore Open last week, will next face third seed Hongyan Pi of France, who beat Indonesian qualifier Maria Febe Kusumastuti 19-21, 21-15, 22-20.
However, India's top men's shuttler Sridhar's campaign was cut short after he went down fighting 21-23, 21-9, 21-14 to world number 16 Joachim Persson of Denmark in the first round.
