Tottenham beat Chelsea to win League Cup

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jonathan Woodgate scored the winning goal in extra-time to give the north London side a 2-1 win over west London rivals Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Woodgate scored in the fourth minute of extra-time after Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech's punched a clearance rebounded off the Spurs defender's head.

Chelsea, the League Cup holders, had opened the scoring in the 39th minute through a Didier Drogba free-kick

just outside the Tottenham area after the striker had been felled by Ivory Coast team mate Didier Zakora.

Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov equalised in the 70th minute from the penalty spot after Chelsea full back Wayne Bridge handled in the area.
