Paes-Dlouhy rally into round two

Seventh seeds Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy rallied from a set down to advance into the second round of the US Open in New York on Tuesday night.

The Indo-Czech pair defeated Spaniards Oscar Hernandez and Albert Montanes, 6-7(2), 6-1, 6-4 in first round.

Paes and Dlouhy have compiled a 13-5 record since partnering together in May at Roland Garros. They were runners-up at Halle and also reached the semifinals at Wimbledon and ATP Masters Series Toronto.

New Haven champions Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa, the No. 15 seeds, continued their recent success as they eased to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Santiago Ventura in 48 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian-Serbian duo of Bruno Soares and Dusan Vemic upset ninth-seeded Aussies Paul Hanley and Jordan Kerr, 7-6(5), 7-6(5).

Also, Brits Ross Hutchins and Andy Murray advanced with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win over Thai twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana, while Argentines Lucas Arnold Ker and Guillermo Canas got by American James Cerretani and Romanian Victor Hanescu, 6-3, 6-2.

In an all-American opener, Amer Delic and Alex Kuznetsov defeated Robby Ginepri and Travis Rettenmaier, 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-4.
