Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has pulled out of France's team for their Davis Cup quarter-final against the United States with a knee injury, the French Tennis Federation said on Wednesday.
World number 13 Tsonga, who felt pain in his right knee during training and will have to rest for a week, will be replaced by Arnaud Clement, the FFT said in a statement.
France's number one Richard Gasquet, the world number 10, and Paul-Henri Mathieu are expected to play singles with Clement and Michael Llodra teaming up in doubles for the tie from Friday to Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The United States will rely on Andy Roddick, James Blake and the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike -- the same quartet that won last year's Davis Cup.
