David Beckham scored one goal and set up another in a 2-0 Los Angeles Galaxy win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Thursday.
The England midfielder played the full 90 minutes, helping the home side win their first game of the Major League Soccer season.
Beckham ran on to a pass from Landon Donovan in the eighth minute and sent a low right-foot shot past goalkeeper Joe Cannon for the opening goal at the Home Deot Center.
Then after 36 minutes his delicate chip over the top of the San Jose defence set up United States international Donovan, who lobbed the advancing Cannon from the edge of the penalty area.
The Galaxy were thrashed 4-0 away by the Colorado Rapids in their season opener last weekend.
