Winger Ryan Giggs has extended his contract at champions Manchester United by a further year to the end of June 2009, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old, a former United trainee who made his debut in 1991, has made 727 appearances for the Old Trafford club.

"I am delighted to have signed for a further season. I am enjoying football more than ever and I hope to carry on playing football for Manchester United for as long as I can," Giggs said on the United Web site (www.manutd.com).

Giggs has won 18 major titles during his career with United, including nine Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the European Cup in 1999.
