Fifth seed Joshna Chinappa lost to fourth seed Mauela Manetta of Italy in the quarterfinals to crash out of the Betteridge and Breitliong San Diego Classic squash tournament.
The Indian went down 3-9 9-6 9-3 3-9 4-9 to Manetta, who will now take on second seed Raneem El Weleily of Egypt in the semifinals of the $11,000 event.
Joshna had earlier beaten Mexican Imelda Salazar Martinez 9-6 9-1 9-3 in the first round.
This is Joshna's second successive loss in the quarterfinals of a tournament. She had lost in the last eight stage of LA Open in Los Angeles last week.
