It was a double blow of sorts for Sania Mirza at the French Open on Thursday as she was knocked out of women's doubles following her loss in the singles earlier in the day.
Sania and her Czech partner Eva Birnerova were outclassed 6-1, 6-2 by top seeds Lisa Raymond of the US and Samantha Stosur of Australia in their first round match at Roland Garros.
Earlier, Sania went down 6-1, 6-4 to seventh-seeded Serb Ana Ivanovic in the second round of the women's singles.
The world number 50 still has the mixed doubles to look forward, where she will team up with Frenchman Fabrice Santoro.
However, there was some good news for Indian fans as Mahesh Bhupathi and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek eased past the Polish duo of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the second round of the men's doubles.
