Ghana cruise past Nigeria

Ghana easily overcame African rivals Nigeria 4-1 in a friendly on Tuesday thanks to goals from Laryea Kingson, Sulley Muntari, Junior Agogo and Joe Tex Frimpong.

On an entertaining night in West London at Brentford's Griffin Park ground, three goals in 10 minutes after halftime sent Claude Le Roy's side on their way to victory.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel appeared in the Nigeria starting lineup despite club manager Jose Mourinho saying he was out injured for two weeks with a calf injury.

The Nigerian Football Association earlier threatened to report Chelsea to FIFA if they did not release Mikel and also Newcastle United if striker Obafemi Martins was not allowed to play.

Ghana virtually wrapped up the win 15 minutes into the second half after a somewhat dull first half.

Kingson fired in from the edge of the area on 50 minutes before three minutes later Muntari scored from an acute angle.

Junior Agogo tapped in a third on 60 minutes to spark wild celebrations from the Ghana contingent on the pitch.

Then, Taiwo Taye grabbed a consolation for Nigeria from the penalty spot before Ghana substitute Joe Tex Frimpong finished the scoring from close range late on.
