Sania Mirza ended a below-par year ranked 66th on the WTA charts.
The Indian tennis icon, who began 2006 at a career-best rank of 31, could not add any feathers to her cap apart from a couple of surprises, which included a victory over former world number one Martina Hingis at the Korean Open.
Her slump was also evident from the fact that her rating points dropped to 382, way below last year's count.
Sania is currently preparing for the Asian Hopman Cup mixed team championship, to be held in her hometown of Hyderabad from November 22.
In the doubles, she finished a career-best 24, with 1070 points.
Among other Indians in the WTA singles, United States-based Shikha Uberoi finished 206th, followed by Ankita Bhambri (42.50) at 418.
