Sania Mirza and her Serbian partner Ana Ivanovic lost to higher rated opponents in the doubles quarter-finals at the US $3.45 million Nasdaq-100 Open in Key Biscayne, Florida, on Friday.
Sania and Ivanovic were beaten 5-7, 0-6 by the eighth seed pair of Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia.
Earlier, Sania faltered in the opening round of the singles, losing to Anna Tatishvilli of Georgia.
