Star shuttler Chetan Anand continued his good run, defeating Marcus Wijana of Indonesia to enter the third round of the men's singles in the Asian Badminton Championships at Johor Baru in Malaysia on Thursday.

On a day of mixed fortunes for Indians at the Bandaraya Indoor Stadium, Anand clinched a 21-15, 27-25 victory over the Indonesian, while other Indians, P Kashyap and Thomas Kurian, bowed out after losing to more fancied opponents.

Kashyap lost to Korean Jang Yong Soo 21-19, 15-21, 12-21 while Kurian was thrashed by Simon Santoso of Indonesia 16-21, 14-21.

Kurian-Diju earned a facile 21-6, 21-9 win against Chan Lo Chong and Wong Keng Hou of Macao in their first round duel.

The other Indian pair got the better of Nguyen Quang Minh and Tran Thanh Hai of Vietnam 21-16, 10-21, 21-17.

Diju and Jwala Gutta were ousted by top seeds Nova Widianto and Lilyana Natsir of Indonesia in the mixed doubles event.

Diju-Gutta lost 18-21, 13-21 in their second round encounter.
