March 10, 2006 08:09 IST

Mumbai's champion club Mahindra United rallied splendidly after being two goals down to hold Al Ahed of Lebanon 2-2 and snatch a valuable point in a Group A away match of the 2006 AFC Cup at the Sports City stadium, in Beirut on Wednesday.

Despite missing the services of some key players Mahindra gave a good account of themselves and matched Al Ahed in the first session, which saw all the goals being scored.

They were in arrears as early as the eighth minute, when Abu Bakar Bah put the home side ahead, and two goals down by the half hour when Ahmed Trad headed home a well-floated free-kick, but battled valiantly.

Steven Dias pulled a goal back in the 34th minute, finishing on a passing bout with Yusif Yakubu before David Adjei snatched the equalizer five minutes later with an opportunistic strike.

In another Group A match in Manama, on Wednesday, Bahrain side Muharraq beat Brothers Union of Bangladesh 2-0, with second half goals from Brazilian striker Leondson Dias D'Silva and an own goal by Mohammed Hossain.
