Benitez signs new deal with Liverpool
June 02, 2006 20:55 IST

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has signed a contract to stay at Anfield for another four years, the Premier League club said on their website on Friday.

The new deal represents a one-year extension to Benitez's original contract and keeps him on Merseyside until 2010.

The Spaniard, who took Liverpool to Champions League glory last year and to FA Cup success last month, said he was delighted the deal had been done.

"There was never going to be a problem once we reached an agreement last season and now all the documents have been signed and sent to the club," Benitez, who joined Liverpool from Valencia two years ago, was quoted as saying.

"I'm very happy at Liverpool and hope we can enjoy more success in the seasons to come."
