Sania storms into singles final

Sania Mirza upset top seed Na Li of China on Tuesday to become the first Indian to enter the women's singles final at the Asian Games.

The fourth seeded Indian thrashed her Chinese opponent 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinal at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash complex in Doha.

The Indian star broke the 24-year-old Li, who is the top Asian player and ranked 21st in the world, in the first and fifth games of the first set.

Sania,20, had a smooth passage in the second set as well, breaking Li in the third and fifth games, to romp home in one hour and six minutes.

Sania, who is ranked 66th, will take on another Chinese Jie Zheng (33rd), who defeated Aiko Nakamura of Japan 6-3, 6-2 in the other semifinal, for the gold medal.
