Saina in Korea Open third round

Saina Nehwal bounced back from a game down to beat Yoshimi Hataya of Japan and advance to the third round of the Yonex Korea Open Badminton in Seoul on Wednesday.

Other Indian shuttlers, including national champion Anup Sridhar bowed out of the six star event.

Saina lost the first game against Hataya of Japan to clinch the issue 13-21 21-9 21-16 in the second round.

The 15-year-old girl from Hyderabad, who created a sensation by becoming the first Indian woman to win a four star tournament in Philippines Open, set up a clash with Thailand's Soratija Chansrisukot on Thursday.

Another youngster Aditi Mutatkar lost her second round match to Jie Yao of Netherlands. Mutatkar exited after a 21-16 21-15 loss.

India's challenge in the men's singles ended with Anup Sridhar and P Kashyap losing their respective matches on Wednesday.

National Champion Sridhar handed over a first game advantage to lose the gruelling tie 16-21 21-13 21-15. Philippines Kamivic Asuncian caused Kashyap's exit with a 21-17 21-19 win.

Other players in singles Arvind Bhat, Ajay Jayram and Anand Pawar had failed to clear the first round hurdle.
