Kim Clijsters edged closer to capturing her ninth title of the season when she stormed into the Belgian Open final with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Russia's Dinara Safina on Saturday.
The U.S. Open champion was in ominous form and thrashed her 21st ranked opponent in just over an hour to set up final against Francesca Schiavone, who beat Dutch teenager Michaella Krajicek 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Top seed Clijsters has now won 31 of her last 33 matches and will be the overwhelming favourite to improve that record on Sunday as she has beaten Schiavone in all of the their seven previous meetings.
Krajicek appeared to be heading towards an upset victory over the third-seeded Italian when she took the opening set.
But the 16-year-old, who defeated second-seed Nathalie Dechy in the previous round, was unable to maintain the form against the more experienced Schiavone.
