The British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) outplayed Bangalore Rugby Football Club 27-3 in the final to win the 72nd Orange All India and South Asia Rugby Tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.

The match began at a furious pace and the Bangalore outfit was forced to backpedal from the beginning, defending desperately at times to keep the BARA players at bay.

Full-back Amraz Hamid broke the deadlock for BARA in the 14th minute, going over the line from the right flank.

After the resultant conversion was missed by Benn Kerr, BARA captain Jug Johal, playing hooker, powered in their second try through the middle in the 28th minute, and Kerr was on target with his kick to give his team a 12-0 lead.

Wing Paul Akaadire then scored BARA s third try, this time from the left. Kerr failed to convert.

The second session saw the Bangalore team regroup once again and manage to peg BARA back a bit, but the try eluded them. Off a quick counter attack it was the speedy Kerr who went over the line for the foreigners.

The Bangalore team were then awarded a penalty three minutes later which was converted by John Kendall. But visions of a fightback were quickly quelled as flanker Rehan Mansoor scored BARA's fifth try in the session's 10th minute.

Final scores: British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) 27 (Armaz Hamid, Jug Johal, Paul Akaadire, Benn Kerr, Rehan Mansoor 1 try each; Benn Kerr one conversion) bt Bangalore RFC 3 (John Kendall penalty conversion).
