Anand loses in Corsica final

Vadim Milov scored a stunning victory over India's Viswanathan Anand in the final of the ninth Corsica Masters rapid knockout chess tournament in the French city of Bastia.

Swiss Grandmaster Milov, who is rated way below the Indian ace, won the mini-match 3-1 scoring the decisive points in the tie-breaker.

Milov won the first game and then Anand won the next to take the match further. In the next set of matches, in the tie-breaker, Milov shocked Anand twice and grabbed the title.

Milov won the first prize of 20,000 Euros, while Anand got 12,000 Euros.

Anand, had won this title five times in a row from 2000 to 2004. In the past, Anand had beaten Sinisa Drazic in 2000, Alexander Chernin in 2001, Anatoly Karpov in 2002, Veselin Topalov in 2003 and Sergei Rublevsky in 2004. The streak finally came to an end in 2005, with Milov taking the honours.
