The England defender, voted player of the year by his fellow professionals last month, will have surgery on Wednesday, manager Jose Mourinho said.

Midfielder Frank Lampard, the English soccer writers' player of the year, and Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho also face minor surgery.

Terry, who has led the champions to their first league title in 50 years, will play no part in Chelsea's game in South Korea on May 20 against East Asian champions Suwon Bluewings.

The centre half will also miss England's friendly matches against the U.S. in Chicago on May 28 and Colombia three days later, BBC Online reported.
