Champions League pre-quarter-finals
Olympique Lyon moved spectacularly into the Champions League quarter-finals with a thumping 7-2 victory over Werder Bremen on Tuesday to wrap up a 10-2 aggregate win.
A Sylvain Wiltord hat-trick, a double by Mickael Essien and goals from Florent Malouda and Jeremy Berthod gave this season's top scorers in the competition a comfortable night.
Wiltord struck after eight minutes when he slotted past helpless Bremen goalkeeper Andreas Reinke and Essien got their second in the 17th minute with a left-foot drive from 20 metres.
Essien tucked home his second and Lyon's third after a defensive mix-up left him with a free run at Reinke and Wiltord grabbed his double by lifting the ball over the keeper.
Florent Malouda made the score 5-2 on the hour mark and Wiltord wrapped up his hat-trick four minutes later before Jeremy Berthod rounded off an easy win with a late penalty.
Johan Micoud and Valerien Ismael replied for Werder.
