Italy's Rosetti to referee first match

Italy's Roberto Rosetti will take charge of the opening match at the Confederations Cup between Argentina and Tunisia in Cologne on Wednesday.

FIFA named the referees and assistants for the first nine matches of the competition after a meeting of the referees committee in Frankfurt on Monday.

Carlos Amarilla of Paraguay will referee the evening match on the tournament's opening day, the showpiece clash between hosts Germany and outsiders Australia in Group A.

FIFA also announced on Monday that Markus Merk of Germany and Russia's Valentin Ivanov would not be officiating at the Confederations Cup. They will take charge of matches at the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands instead.

June 15:

Group A: Argentina v Tunisia, Cologne: Roberto Rosetti (Italy) Germany v Australia, Frankfurt: Carlos Amarilla (Paraguay)

June 16:

Group B: Japan v Mexico, Hanover: Matthew Breeze (Australia) Brazil v Greece, Leipzig: Lubos Michel (Slovakia)

June 18:

Group A: Tunisia v Germany, Cologne: Peter Prendergast (Jamaica) Australia v Argentina, Nuremberg: Shamsul Maidin (Singapore)

June 19:

Group B: Mexico v Brazil, Hanover: Mourad Daami (Tunisia) Greece v Japan, Frankfurt: Herbert Fandel (Germany)

June 21:

Group A: Australia v Tunisia, Leipzig: Carlos Chandia (Chile)
