Argentina's Guillermo Coria and Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero pulled out of the Paris Masters on Friday, joining world number one Roger Federer on the casualty list before the last Masters Series tournament of the season.

Coria, fifth in the ATP rankings, has injured a shoulder while former world number one Ferrero pulled out of next week's 2.425 million dollar event with illness.

Lleyton Hewitt and Spain's Carlos Moya, however, who both missed last week's Madrid Masters through injury, will play in the Paris indoor tournament.

Tournament director Alain Riou said on Thursday that the organisers of Masters Series tournaments were "very concerned" with the growing number of top players missing their events.

Federer's withdrawal, however, had been expected after a thigh injury forced him out of the Madrid Masters and the Swiss Indoors event, currently underway in Basel.
