Former world number one golfer Tiger Woods has married Swedish model Elin Nordegren at the luxury Sandy Lane resort in Barbados, the Barbados Daily Nation newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Eight-times major winner Woods, widely regarded as the best player in the game since Jack Nicklaus, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony on Tuesday, according to the newspaper.
Basketball great Michael Jordan, a close friend of Woods, and U.S. television celebrity Oprah Winfrey were reported to have been among the 150-odd guests.
Woods, 28, proposed to Nordegren, 24, after last year's Presidents Cup team competition in South Africa, at a luxury game reserve near the coastal city of Port Elizabeth.
The pair met at the 2001 British Open when Nordegren was working as nanny to the children of Swedish professional golfer Jesper Parnevik.
Although Woods has not won a major title since the 2002 U.S. Open, he said earlier this year he had never been happier as a professional golfer.
"I have a balance in my life. Ever since Elin came into my life, things just became a lot better. Someone you can bounce things off, somebody who is a great friend. We do just about everything together.
"It's nice having that type of person around you. She's so much like me. She's very competitive, very feisty, just like I am."
