Sharapova in Korea Open final

October 02, 2004 15:56 IST
Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova eased past Luxembourg's Anne Kremer 6-0, 6-2 to reach the final of the Hansol Korea Open on Saturday.

Sharapova dominated with her serve and returned Kremer's with venom in the one-sided match which lasted just 50 minutes.

"I think Anne couldn't really handle the pace today," the 17-year-old Russian said.

"I definitely played a lot better than I did in the second round," she added, referring to her match against Miho Saeki where the Japanese took a 3-1 lead in the first set.

Sharapova served six aces on her way

to victory and broke Kremer's serve six times.

"When you're dictating the whole match, you get more confident as the match goes on," said Sharapova. "I could tell the crowd wanted a little bit more of the match, but sometimes the games go quickly."

She will face Marta Domachowska in the final after the Pole defeated Abigail Spears of the United States in the other semi.

"I've heard a lot of good things about her so I'm sure it's going to be a very interesting final," Sharapova said. "But I just go out every match and play my game. I don't want to worry about my opponent."
