Del Neri wants to replace Mourinho
May 28, 2004 19:20 IST

Italy's Chievo Verona coach Luigi Del Neri says Porto have contacted him about replacing Jose Mourinho.

"Yes, they have contacted my agent and there is a possibility of being coach of Porto," Del Neri told Portugal's Radio Renascenca, according to the station's website.

Asked if he would like to coach Porto, Del Neri said: "Porto are a beautiful team that anyone would want to coach."

After Porto's 3-0 win over Monaco in the Champions League final, Mourinho said he would be leaving and has since told Portugal's Sport TV: "I have several invitations in the bag, but there is one that I very much want to accept -- Chelsea's."

British media reported Mourinho was due in London on Friday for talks about taking over at Chelsea from Claudio Ranieri.
