Apparently under a lot of pressure following the decision to omit three senior players from a pool of 30 Olympic hopefuls, Gill vented his anger on journalists and television cameramen at the National stadium, where they had gone to cover the camp for the four-nation tournament in Japan.

"Gill was near the training area, and when he saw us approaching the ground he asked: 'What these people are doing here.' He then asked us to leave the place," said one of the journalists present on the scene.

"He abused us and said 'get out of the stadium. It's my order'. When we said that he is not the authority to ask us to leave the place he threatened to use force," the journalist added.

India chief coach Rajinder Singh, who was also present, was very apologetic about Gill's behaviour, said another journalist.

The IHF chief is under flak following the decision to ignore Pillay, Baljit Singh Dhillon and Baljit Singh Saini from the list of probables for the Olympics.
