McEnroe to host CNBC talk show

January 15, 2004 19:45 IST

Tennis legend John McEnroe will join CNBC to host a one-hour prime time talk show this spring.

The former world No. 1, who won three Wimbledon and four U.S. Open crowns, will serve as lead host of an ensemble team that will provide "an unpredictable and spontaneous" look at the top news stories of the day.

CNBC said on Wednesday McEnroe's show will be aired at 10 p.m. EST, immediately after comedian Dennis Miller's talk show, which premieres later this month.

McEnroe will also be the show's co-executive producer.

CNBC president and CEO Pamela Thomas-Graham, in a statement said, "Throughout his career, as a player, broadcaster and author, John has been known for his unique perspective, outspokenness, blunt honesty and unpredictability-all of the qualities that this new show will bring to CNBC's new primetime programming.

"John and the ensemble's non-traditional approach to the news will be entertaining, unusual and the topic of conversation the next day."
