Following the much-hyped security issue of Indian cricket team in Pakistan, Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi on Friday sought to know if enough security was being provided to the country's athletes visiting Pakistan for the SAF Games later next month.

400-member team for SAF Games

"I feel concerned and would like to know whether adequate security measures have been taken for the large Indian contingent and delegation of Olympics disciplines which is going for the SAF games at the same time," Kalmadi said at New Delhi.

A 400-strong Indian team of athletes and officials would be in Pakistan to take part in the Games to be held from March 29 to April 7.

"I see in the newspapers that the Indian cricket team is also visiting Pakistan during the same period and all attention of security agencies seems to be on the cricket tour," he said pressing the need for "major security arrangements" for such a large assembly of Indians in Pakistan.

He also said "cricket matches during the same period may curtail the TV coverage of Olympics events of SAF Games...therefore suitable steps may be taken to give adequate media coverage to SAF Games".
