Declaring that every record in his career is special to him, legendary American athlete Michael Johnson, winner of five Olympic and nine World Championship golds at 200 and 400 meters, said he is proud of his excellent consistency in diverse races over a decade.

"It took me nearly a decade to shave off 1.5 seconds of my own record and that illustrates how difficult it is to better world records even by fraction of a second," Johnson, in Mumbai to run in Sunday's Standard Chartered Mumbai International Marathon, told reporters on Saturday.

Johnson, who will be running the 7 kms Dream Run, lamented the fact that today's crop of 200 and 400 metres runners is lacks consistency.

"None of them have it in them to come anywhere close to my records," Johnson, who admires Berlin Games hero Jesse Owens, Evelyn Ashford and Edwin Moses, said.

Talking about the marathon, he said: "It is a personal achievement to run in it. Some run to win, others to finish the race and others have a benchmark to achieve."

Commenting on the drugs issue, Johnson slammed those engaging in the evil practise.
