Sania Mirza has shot to the top of the junior girls' doubles rankings.
The Hyderabad lass is the first Indian girl to take the No. 1 spot, following her maiden Grand Slam victory in the girls' doubles at Wimbledon early this month.
Her singles ranking too got a boost. She is now 15th on the list, according to the rankings released by the International Tennis Federation on Tuesday.
Indeed, it's been a watershed year for 16-year-old who made her presence felt in junior Grand Slam competitions.
She reached the semi-finals of the French Open, partnering compatriot Sanaa Bhambri before the historic triumph at Wimbledon, where she partnered Russia's Alisa Kleybanova.
Mirza is now eyeing the US Open, where she had reached the quarter-finals last year in the company of Isha Lakhani.
Sanaa is ranked 19th in doubles and 51 in singles.
