Air-India will take on Bhopal XI while the Indian Hockey Federation (Juniors) will play Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinals of the 81st All India MCC-Murugappa Hockey tournament, in Chennai.

In Sunday's match to decide the group C winner, Air-India beat IHF by a lone goal, scored in the 60th minute by Devinder Kumar off a Anil Aldrin pass, following a penalty corner, while Tamil Nadu drew 3-3 with Madras Engineering Group (MEG), Bangalore in Group A.

MEG played a superb game and all their three goals came from penalty corner conversions.

Adam Sinclair (13th and 34th minute) and Prabhakaran netted for the hosts, while Ranjit Bhengra (2 goals) and Bicksal Bhengra scored for MEG.

MEG captain and centre forward Samson Fernandez was shown the yellow card for an infringement.

This prompted him to tap the head of international umpire Satinder Sharma, who gave him the red card.

A few minutes later, Prabhakaran (TN) and Marutha Pandian (MEG) also received 'yellow cards'.

With Karnataka already having made the grade, the three other qualifiers will be spotted on Monday, when the league phase of the tournament is over.

Former champions Indian Railways, with a win over Army Service Corps, will play Mumbai (who have lost to ASC), while Punjab Police clash with Indian Overseas Bank.

Mumbai's chances are bleak as they have to beat Railways by a margin of more than five goals while the latter need just a draw to progress, along with ASC from Group C.

Punjab Police need only a draw to make the grade, while IOB has to win by a minimum of two goals.
