Hosts and top seeds Egypt won the World women's junior team squash championship, crushing Australia 3-0 in the final at the Cairo Stadium on Thursday.
In a one-sided final, the hosts took the first match in 39 minutes, when Sara Badr beat Donna Urquhart 9-6, 9-4, 9-4. Omneya Abdel Kawy handed Kasey Brown three love games to make it 2-0 and Raneem El Weleily bt Georgina Davis 9-0, 9-2 in 11 minutes to complete the rout.
In the play-off for third place, defending champions England rallied from a match down to beat fourth seeds India 2-1.
Vaidehi Reddy gave India the lead, winning the first match against Kirsty McPhee 9-5, 6-9, 9-2, 9-1. But England No1 Suzie Pierrepont levelled the tie, beating Joshna Chinappa 9-3, 9-4, 10-8. Then 15-year-old Rachel Willmott, who was drafted into the England squad following injuries to Emma Bedoes and Lauren Siddal, beat Supriya Balsekar 9-3, 9-0, 9-1 in 21 minutes to clinch the issue.
Inda will be pleased with the fourth place as it is their best ever finish in the tournament.
For five-time champions England, it was their worst.
In the semi-finals, India went down to Egypt 0-3, while third seeds Australia beat second seeds England 3-0.
In the Australia - England match, Donna Urquhart beat Emma Beddoes 10-8, 9-4, 5-9, 9-2; Kasey Brown beat Suzie Pierrepont 9-7, 2-9, 8-10, 9-4, 9-7 and Georgina Davis accounted for Lauren Siddall, who retired after losing the first game 9-2.
Egypt also had it as easy against India as Sara Badr whipped Supriya Balsekar 9-0, 9-0, 9-2, Omneya Abdel Kawy beat Vaidehi Reddy 9-7, 9-2, 9-0 and Raneem El Weleily put it across Alisha Mashruwala 9-2, 9-1.
