Kelli White is the fastest woman

Kelli White of the United States became the fastest woman in the world on Sunday when she blazed down the track at the Stade de France in Paris in 10.85s to win the 100m gold quite comfortably.

Torri Edwards, also of the US, won the silver with a time of 10.93s, while Zhanna Block of the Ukraine, who had won the gold at the previous World Athletics Championship in Edmonton, Canada, won the bronze in 10.99s.

Chandra Sturrup of the Bahamas, who had done sub-11 times in the quarterfinal, only managed to finish fourth in 11.02s.

The veteran Gail Devers, twice Olympic champion and once world champion over the distance, came in last in 11.11s.
