World marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe will attempt the 5,000-10,000 metres double at the World championships opening in Paris on August 23.

Radcliffe, 29, who has been affected by a shin splint injury and bronchitis after breaking her own world marathon record last April, was named in the final British team on Tuesday.

She has yet to win a Gold medal at either the world championships or the Olympic Games.

Olympic heptathlon champion Denise Lewis, who gave birth to her first child in April, has also been selected.

"I have asked to be considered for selection in both events," Radcliffe said. "I have worked very hard since recovering from my problems.

"As always my main focus will be the 10,000 and thoughts will only turn to the 5,000 afterwards. However, I feel I can run well in both events and am looking forward to finally getting back racing."
