Abide With Me, Mahatma Gandhi's favourite hymn, which was the concluding piece in the Beating Retreat ceremony for 67 years, was removed from the musical repertoire this year.
Subhas Chandra Bose also loved the hymn, his grandnephew Dr Sugata Bose said in a recent interview.
Written in 1847, the beautiful hymn asks god to remain with us through the trials of life and death.
