The people were stunned by the sudden development in district, which has been a pocket borough of YSR family for the past three decades. It was utter confusion and despair as the people first clung to the television sets for every bit of information and then made a beeline to different religious places to pray for the well being of the prodigal son.
Many members of YSR's extended families, close friends and loyal followers broke down while praying for his safety.
YSR's brother-in-law and Kadapa Mayor Ravindernath Reddy broke down in public. "I can't believe that something will go wrong with him," he said even as the people tried to console him and provide him support. He later went to the famous shrine in the city to pray for YSR's safety. YSR's brother Vivekananda Reddy was also shaken by the turn of events. He and some other family members rushed to CSI Church in Pulivendula to offer prayers.
Emotional supporters of YSR were offering special prayers in temples, mosques and churches all over Kadapa district. "Murtunjaya Homam" was offered at many temples for the safe return of YSR. Muslims also offered special prayers before breaking their fast. There were emotional scenes as people break down.
YSR's son YS Jaganmohan Reddy was elected from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency in the recent elections.
While some family members of YSR rushed to Hyderabad from Bengaluru, where Jagan's business is based, YSR's son-in-law Anil Kumar, an evangelist was returning from the US by cutting short his visit.
