Vijayalakshmi, widow of the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was on declared elected unopposed from Pulivendula Assembly seat in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.
Election observer Manish Moudgil said Vijayalakshmi was elected unanimously from Pulivendula assembly constituency.
The seat was previously held by her late husband Rajasekhara Reddy who died in a helicopter crash on September 2. Vijayalakshmi was declared elected unanimously as main opposition, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam and other parties, did not field their candidates as a mark of respect to late Congress leader.
He handed over the declaration to Y S Bhaskar Reddy, cousin of Rajasekhar Reddy in the presence of Returning Officer Gopal and Assistant Returning Officer Srinivas.
