On Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's birthday this year, the man who murdered him was trending on Twitter!
Days later, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dragged Gandhi into a controversy, insisting that the Indian lawyer then based in South Africa had advised Vinayak Damodar Savarkar to draft an apology to the British empire -- a contention which historians and Gandhi's kin deem extremely unlikely.
Against the backdrop of these events comes the heartening images of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paying homage to the Mahatma, even using the charkha, an indelible object associated with a man who will always remain the Father of the Indian Nation.
