A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party was left embarassed after its MLAs cross voted in the presidential election, former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was in all praise for the newly-elected President -- Pranab Mukherjee.

In the Karnataka assembly, he urged P A Sangma, his party's candidate in the Presidential race, not to challenge Mukherjee's election in the Supreme Court.

The BJP leader, who was speaking on the floor of the House, said on Monday that it was time to move on and it was high time that they congratulated Mukherjee, who won with a huge margin
in the presidential poll, the results of which were declared on Sunday. "He (Mukherjee) was a man great stature and an eligible leader."

Yeddyurappa also urged Sangma not to seek legal recourse and file a petition before the Supreme Court challenging Mukherjee's election. "He has won by a huge margin and got 69 per cent of the votes. This should be accepted," Yeddyurappa said. He also added that he would write to Sangma urging him to accept the situation.

It may be recalled that even during the election Yeddyurappa had termed Pranab as the rightful candidate and called him a great leader.
