Yasin admits role in Hyd blasts; remanded to custody till Oct 17

A court in Hyderabad has remanded Indian Mujahideen cofounder Yasin Bhatkal to judicial remand till October 17 in connection with the twin bomb blasts in Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad.

Bhatkal, accused No. 5 in the blast case, was produced before the first metropolitan and session judge at Nampally courts on Monday amid tight security.

Bhatkal, who was brought to Hyderabad by NIA on Sunday was subjected to questioning over night. According to the sources, Bhatkal admitted his role in the blast and gave a detail account of how the bombs were made and planted in Dilsukhnagar.

Two blasts rocked Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar area on February 21 in which 17 people lost their lives.

Sources said that Bhatkal revealed that both the bombs were planted by his accomplice Asadullah Akhtar alias Tabrez who has also been remanded to judicial custody. Both of them are lodged in Charalapally jail.

Sources said that Bhatkal provided information about their hideout in Bahadurpura area which they had taken on rent and also revealed the names of some of their local contacts.

Without giving out the names, the sources said that the NIA were verifying the information provided by Bhatkal.

Yasin and Tabrez were arrested in Nepal on August 28 and their role in various bomb blasts across the country is being probed.
