Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that Islamabad has finalised work on a liberal visa regime with New Delhi, and that he expected it to be signed during the upcoming visit of Foreign Minister SM Krishna.

Krishna is likely to visit Pakistan in early September.

Talking to media in Tehran where he attended the 16th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM), Malik said Pakistan wanted friendly relations with India.

He also said that in some matters Pakistan was going out of the way to ensure better relations with its neighbour, The Daily Times reports.

Malik, who accompanied by President Asif Ali Zardari during his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, termed the meeting as "excellent".

He said that both countries were heading in the right direction to resolve all outstanding issues.

According to the paper, Malik, however, said it was the obligation of the two states to identify their common enemy, which did not want the two countries to be friends.

"We would not allow anyone to exploit the situation," he added.

According to the paper, the interior minister referred to many cases in the past when allegations were levelled against the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for certain acts
