Refusing to step down as the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on health, expelled Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh said on Monday that he would follow former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jaswant Singh in this matter.
"I am not resigning and I am following Jaswant Singh in this matter," he told media-persons outside Parliament. When it was pointed out that the former BJP leader has resigned from the chairmanship of parliamentary committee on PAC, he said "If I resign it will be of my own and not under the pressure from SP. Anycase I am not resigning now."
Singh also firmly ruled out the possibility of returning to SP. "The question does not arise. I would prefer to die than joining back the SP. I was abused by Mulayam's family members," he said adding " Neither me nor Jaya Prada would ever join the party again." About the status of Jaya Bachchan in the party, Singh said "she is with us".
