Karnataka HR Bhardwaj on Tuesday said he was ready to give the Bharatiya Janata Party as much time as it needs to elect a new leader.

"Let them take their time. I will not interfere or else all you people in the media will blame and target me for forming or pulling down a government," the Governor told media persons.

On the issue of prosecuting Yeddyurappa, who stepped down from the chief minister's seat on Sunday, the Governor said that the consequences of his resignation will follow according to the Supreme Court judgment.

"As
far as the sanction for prosecution from my end is concerned, I have the report of the Lokayukta with me. However, he has not given me the entire report as yet. Whatever I have been saying about illegal mining has been proven right as per the Lokayukta's report," he said.
