The area also houses a Jewish prayer house. According to the probe by the National Investigation Agency, Headley had moved to Pune from Goa to conduct a reconnaissance of the area around Koregaon Park.
Though initially investigating officials suspected that he wanted to target the foreigners visiting the Osho Ashram, it was revealed later that he had scouted the area to target the Jewish prayer centre.
Headley had later left Pune to travel to Mumbai to conduct a reconnaissance of the Israel Airways office in Cuffe Prade area, before leaving for Pakistan.
Headley's last visit to India before being arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation was in March last year, to finalise synchronised terror strikes on Jewish houses located in five cities, at the instance of the Lashker-e-Tayiba.
