The Bombay High Court on Monday directed the Maharashtra government to explain why the investigations of September 2006 Malegaon blast was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The state government will have to file an affidavit regarding this within two weeks, the court said. The high court said the reason for transfer of investigations after the chargesheet was filed was needed to be examined.
The court's order came upon a petition filed by three accused in the case seeking a probe into the manner in which the investigations were conducted.
