Jeddah: 'India Week' to be celebrated

'India Week' -- a cultural, academic and economic festival to celebrate the Republic Day will be held in Jeddah next week.

The event will also mark the first anniversary of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud's visit to India in 2006.

The programme would begin on Thursday January 25 with a ghazal performance by Talat Aziz, who would be accompanied by renowned tabla maestro, Jeetu Shankar.

On Republic day, the tricolour will be hoisted at the Consulate. Then a seminar on "Indo-Saudi Cooperation in the field of Medical Tourism" will be organized by the Indo-Saudi Medical Forum in association with FICCI-Maharashtra Medical Tourism Board.

Media personalities Karan Thapar and Qurban Ali would share the dais for a panel discussion on "Challenges for the Indian Democracy Today" on Saturday.
