A day after the Nationalist Congress Party demanded 50 per cent share of the seats in Maharashtra and a national alliance with the party, the Congress said it would sit together with its alliance partner to find a solution.

"Let me assure you that nothing is going to change the basic fact that we are fully capable of sitting together and finding an amicable solution," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar had said on Sunday, "We want to have an alliance with the Congress at the national level. And it will benefit everyone. But if it doesn't happen, we will think of an alternative".

Singhvi said the party's relationship with NCP was long standing and they have formed the government together on two occasions.

"It will happen for the third time also...We will sit on the table and decide. No one should have a doubt," he said.

Asked when the seats will be decided, he said that talks were on. "Before the filing of the nominations, all arrangements will be in place," he said.

To a query whether the Congress will go for a national alliance with the NCP even though the Congress Working Committee had rejected the concept, Singhvi said, "I cannot say anything at this stage. We are not anti-alliance".
